Milk: Got Milk?

This slogan has somehow wormed its way into the pop culture vernacular. It's become quite chic nowadays (or at least it was a few years ago when this campaign broke) to say "Got [insert name, product, etc. here]." Truth is, Got Milk is not that great a slogan. It doesn't tell you anything about the product. And the fact that the Milk half of the slogan has become so interchangable on t-shirts and such is evidence of that. Nonetheless, the slogan works. Why? Because of the ad campaign that launched it. Got Milk was the punchline. Remember all those fun scenarios they drew up that ended with someone really needed a glass of milk? They were brilliant. And the message hit home -- make sure you have milk on hand. Goes to show how important it is that a slogan be fully integrated into the marketing program. Alone this slogan spoils but combined with a good ad campaign it's really refreshing.
